Electron microscopy analysis of the heart biopsy

Abstract:

Ultrastructural examination reveals no major morphological changes within cardiomyocytes. Normal nuclei and preserved myofibrils were present (Fig. 1,2). Quite abundant lipofuscin deposits were seen (Fig. 3,4). Focally, glycogen granules accumulation was observed . Mitochondria with abnormal cristae arrangement as well as giant mitochondria, many times larger than typical, were present ).
