Muscle segment examination in light & electron microscopy

Abstract:

A 7-year-old patient was examined. A biopsy of quadriceps sinister was performed.Electronmicroscopy analysis revealed normal ultrastructure of muscle fibers as well as unchanged nuclei and few fat droplets were visible. On the other hand, numerous mitochondria were swollen,characterized by light mitochondrial matrix and loss of mitochondrial cristae.
