Subject and Keywords: Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Leukomyelopathia. Autopsy examination of 61-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, Heidenhain, and Van Gieson's method.Myelin disintegration with moderate infiltration of scavenger cells was observed in the spinal cord. In the medulla in the thoracic segment, perivascular infiltrates consist of small round cell were observed in the white matter. Generalized gliosis was seen throughout the medulla. Nerve cells were rich in lipofuscin. Cross sections through the right cerebral hemisphere showed generalized spongy changes of the cortex and white matter and sparse infiltrates in dilated perivascular spaces. Some small arteries and arterioles demonstrated vitreous changes.
