Przedmiotem analizy jest tytulatura Baldwina I, króla Jerozolimy w latach 1100–1118. Na podstawie korpusu źródeł dyplomatycznych, uzupełnionych o materiał sfragistyczny oraz zabytki historiograficzne, przedstawiono kontekst społeczno-polityczny kształtowania się królewskiego tytułu, wykuwającego się w czasie konfliktu między monarchą a patriarchą jerozolimskim Dagobertem z Pizy o władzę nad świętym miastem. Stąd też szczególną rolę w tytulaturze i programie ideologicznym Baldwina I odgrywała Jerozolima.
