Abstract:A finite element method is used for solving the nonlinear transient heat transfer problem of the axisymmetric flash welding. The variational derivation of the finite element matrices and the algorithm for solving the resulting system of nonlinear equations are discussed. Numerical illustrations prove the effectiveness of the approach.
