Description:

The photo depicts a troop of soldiers in a forest. It shows a group of young men in very various clothing (some of them in military uniforms and some in civil dresses). Each of the men holds a gun in their hands. There is an inscription on the back of the photo: “The partisan troop of Armia Krajowa [Home Army] “Łókos” [the commander's pseudonym, proper name Bolesław Kieresiński] from Puszcza Mariańska Village. The photo was taken in February 1944 under an oak tree of the Puszcza Mariańska forests by an amateur photographer (name unknown)”; February 1944, Puszcza Mariańska Village ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
