Abstract:The authors present a case of disseminated glioblastosis diffusa in a 35 year old male in whom the clinical symptomatology of intraspinal tumor developed in the course of three weeks. The patient died 10 days after admission to the Clinic. The histopathology of the central nervous system revealed a multifocal diffuse blastomatous process involving the brain stem, cerebellum and spinal cord. The neoplastic focus in the lower cervical portion of the spinal cord was glioblastoma multiforme, the others showed the features of glioblastosis diffusa. The authors point out the excepionally rare occurrence of glioblastoma multiforme in the spinal cord. The anaplastic foci on the background of a relatively benign blastomators process are quite typical of glioblastosis diffusa. Their presence indicates the unquestionable neoplastic nature of the process. The multifocal nature of the disease process in the authors’case illustates the field theory of glial tumour growth.
