Abstract:

Changes in the histochemical activity of adenylate cyclase and alkaline phosphatase in the cerebral microvessels of the rat were studied in manganese intoxicationat the level of light- and electron microscopy. Manganese encephalopathy was induced by 7 intraperitoneal injections of manganese chloride in thecourse of one month in a total dose of 240 mg Mn++/kg body weight. The animals were sacrificed by transcardiac perfusion of the appropriate fixatives immediately after last intoxication, 24 h and 7 days after it.
