Abstract:In the framework of the linearized theory we study the plane-parallel uniform flow of an incompressible, ponderable, inviscid fluid in the presence of a submerged thin hydrofoil. We represent the complex velocity potential by a continuous distribution of sources and vortices potentials. From the boundary conditions we derive a singular integral equation for γ (the vortex circulation). A numerical method is used in order to solve the integral equation and to calculate the lift, drag and moment coefficients. Numerical results are given in the case of an oblique flat plate of small inclination.
