The occurrence of molluscs in 5 lakes joined by the r. Jorka has been investigated. In all lakes the mussel Dreissena polymorpha dominated. This species varied greatly in particular lakes. D. polymorpha varied both as regards individual characters (size, shell and body weight, growth) and population characters (numbers of planktonic larvae and settled individuals, range of distribution, biomass, age structure).
