Abstract:The author discusses graves of Alt Käbelich type discovered in the tumulus cemetery at Świelubie in the vicinity of Kołobrzeg, which is commonly considered the cemetery of a group of Scandinavians settled on the Parsęta river. This article attempts to take part in the discussion on the genesis, chronology, and dispersion of the graves of this type. The author is inclined to the opinion that they were originated in the communities of Baltic Slavs independently of the influences from the Scandinavians settled in Slavonic environment in craftsmen’s and mercantile settlements, and that this form of burial has a wide range of occurence which covers vast areas of the Slavonic Baltic coast
