Description:

A married couple and children against a background of a wooden barn.The photo shows a man and woman in festive clothing and their teenage children posing in the house yard against a background of a barn with a thatched roof. The man and woman are sitting on chairs and the children are standing on either side of them. The woman has dark, smoothly brushed hair with parting in the middle. She is dressed in a black blouse with a collar and a long skirt, slightly lighter-coloured than the blouse and is wearing a bead necklace around her neck.. The man is wearing a dark jacket, a vest, a white shirt, a tie and light-coloured trousers. To his left a teenage girl is standing in a wide, black jersey with a lowered waist and sleeves up to the elbow. To the right of the woman there is a boy about eleven years old with a shaved head wearing a black jacket that widens towards the bottom with a stand-up collar and slightly too short trousers. Behind them, you can see thick stumps of cut down trees, a wooden fence and a meadow, on which there stands a wooden building with a thatched roof ; side. The boy on the left is his great-grandmother’s son, and the girl on the right is her daughter. The photo was taken in 1930 ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
