Description:

The photo shows three teenage girls in folk costumes standing on either side of a priest in a cassock. The photo was taken outside against a background of foliage. The girls are wearing, patterned skirts, decorative, little aprons, embroidered jerkins, tied back headscarves and bead necklaces ; According to the owner of the photo, it was taken in 1940 and shows his two aunts with a friend of theirs and the parish-priest. According to the donor, these are the costumes in which this feast was celebrated in his region ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
