Description:

The photo shows a girl of about 10 years of age in a white dress reaching her knees decorated by myrtle branches. She is holding a burning candle and a little handbag in her left hand and a rosary and a sacred picture in her right. The girl is wearing white stockings and court shoes and she has a big bow in her curly hair. On the left by the wall there is a table covered with a white lace tablecloth on which a vase of roses is placed. The photo was taken in a photographer’s studio [the same one as on picture 240-3]. ; On the back of the photo there is an inscription: “Village of Ugoda, keepsake of 1st Holy Communion the year 1947 in Ślesin, Bydgoszcz powiat, lived in Ugoda. Mother died in the Potulice camp.” ; According to the owner of the photo, it is a keepsake of the first Holy Communion of his cousin who lived in the village of Ugoda in 1947 ; 1947, Ugoda, bydgoski district, kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
