[A memento of the 1st Holy Communion] [An iconographic document]
Date issued/created: Description:The photo shows a girl of about 10 years of age in a white dress reaching her knees decorated by myrtle branches. She is holding a burning candle and a little handbag in her left hand and a rosary and a sacred picture in her right. The girl is wearing white stockings and court shoes and she has a big bow in her curly hair. On the left by the wall there is a table covered with a white lace tablecloth on which a vase of roses is placed. The photo was taken in a photographer’s studio [the same one as on picture 240-3]. ; On the back of the photo there is an inscription: “Village of Ugoda, keepsake of 1st Holy Communion the year 1947 in Ślesin, Bydgoszcz powiat, lived in Ugoda. Mother died in the Potulice camp.” ; According to the owner of the photo, it is a keepsake of the first Holy Communion of his cousin who lived in the village of Ugoda in 1947 ; 1947, Ugoda, bydgoski district, kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
