[Two young child in a garden] [An iconographic document]
Date issued/created: Description:The photograph shows two young children in a garden. An older, fair-haired girl is five years old and is wearing a white dress and knee-high socks and dark shoes with a strap. She has a watch with a light stripe on her hand and a basket of flowers. The second child of about 1, 5 - 2 years old is sitting on a small chair and is dressed in a white dress, stockings and shoes. Dresses of both children are decorated with embroidery. In the background you can see a tree and a garden fenced with wooden rails ; On the back of the photo there are two inscriptions: [1] Although I do not have a bang I'm pretty (an old legend). - [2] I'm when counted only 5 years old but I was already in pretensions: a watch, a basket of flowers, a medallion around my neck, in the garden of her grandmother behind a house, Żakowice Nowe 1928) ; According to the account of the owner of a photo it shows her at the age of 5 years old with a younger son of her aunt ; 1928, Żakowice Nowe ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
