Description:

The photograph shows a group of several dozen people in a festive clothing posing for a picture in front of a restaurant. A newlywed couple sits among the guests in the front row. A bride is wearing a white dress with a tulle veil and holding a large bouquet of flowers in her hands. A bridegroom in a dark suit and white shirt with a bow plugged in a lapel sits next to her. Before the young couple three young women are sitting on a blanket. In the last row, among other guests there is a priest. Above an entrance to a building you can see two signboards: “Restaurant with liquor licence Salomeja Szynalewska” and “Warehouse of Colonial Goods Salomeja Szynalewska” ; On the back of the photo there is an inscription: (...) (…) newlywed surrounded by wedding guests. October 18, 1929 against the background of a mother’s shop and a restaurant (…). In the upper right corner thera is a stamp: (…) Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, (…)In the upper right corner of the stamp that reads: SW Begger, Gd ; October 18th, 1929 ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
