Description:

The structure of dentin of Altai gray birch mouse Sicista pseudonapaea Strautman, 1949 incisors was studied. The birch mice were caught in July 1976 (3 individuals) and in June 1988 (33 individuals) in southwest Altai near Markakol Lake (about 1800 m a.s.l.). The labelling of animals with tetracycline was carried out in 1988. Animals' age was determined by the number of layers of periosteal bone in the mandible. The dentin of incisors was studied in longitudinal ground sections and in longitudinal and cross sections stained with Ehrlich hematoxylin. Distinct daily layers in the dentin were revealed.
