Przebadano budowę histologiczną przełyku, żołądka, jelita cienkiego i jelita grubego u 18 niedźwiedzi brunatnych (Ursus arctos Linnaeus, 1758) w różnym wieku (Tabela 1) pochodzących z warszawskiego ZOO. Obok rutynowych metod histologicznych zastosowano metody histochemiczne pozwalające wykryć rozmieszczenie kwasów nukleinowych: RNA i DNA, białek, polisacharydów (mukopolisacharydów kwaśnych, obojętnych i glikogenu), lipidów oraz aktywnej fosfatazy zasadowej.
