Removal trapping was conduced on 12×12 grids with assessment lines to test the relative effectiveness of the Standard Minimum, Inner Square and Assessment Line methods for small mammal density estimation. Twelwe study sites were trapped in desert, chaparral and woodland habitats in California and Nevada to provide a wide array of species and densities for comparison of estomation techniques. The procedure used was to trap each grid for 10 days followed by 4 days of trapping on the associated assessment lines. Do przetestowania względnej efektywności szacowania zagęszczenia drobnych ssaków metodami Standard Minimum, Wewnętrznego Kwadratu I Linii Oceniających (Assesment Lines) prowadzono odłów z usuwaniem na 12 powierzchniach usytuowanych w różnych środowiskach. Na każdej powierzchni, z siecią pułapek ustawionych w więźbie 12×12 prowadzono przez 10 dni wyłów, następnie przenoszono pułapki na linie oceniające, na których wyłów trwał 4 dni.
