Zakładając określone zależności pomiędzy promieniem (r) areału osobniczego, prawdopodobieństwem (p) łowienia i położeniem ośrodka areału osobniczego względem badanej powierzchni opracowano model, który pozwala przewidzieć zarówno wzgledną łowność na każdej powierzchni odłownej jak i oczekiwane tempo wyłowu. Model ten został sprawdzony przy odłowach Suncus murinus oraz Rattus rattus i R. exulans prowadzonych na wyspie Guam.
