Badania elementów strukturalnych klatki piersiowej przeprowadzono na kośćcach 93 żubrów obu płci. Przebadano także 10 gatunków innych przeżuwaczy zarówno udomowionych jak i wolnożyjących (łącznie 107 osobników). Wykonano pomiary żeber, mostka, a także klatki piersiowej w całości. Określono także kąty krzywizn żebrowych, powierzchnie przekrojów poprzecznych żeber oraz współczynniki wzrostu uzyskanych wartości.
