Na 282 osobnikach nornika północnego, Microtus oeconomus Pallas, 1776 dokonano pomiarów długości i ciężaru przewodu pokarmowego, w różnych sezonach (Tabela 1). Były to zarówno osobniki młode, niedojrzałe płciowo, jak i dorosłe, dojrzałe płciowo, w tym samice ciężarne i karmiące. Długość i ciężar przewodu pokarmowego zwiększa się z wiekiem, jednakże wzrost ten postępuje wolniej niż wzrost całego ciała.
