Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Foci encephalomalaciae multiplices.Autopsy examination of 67-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method.Diffuse foci of necrosis varying in timing and morphologic appearance were observed in the cortex and in the axons of the gyri. A characteristic feature of the foci was the low number of macrophages, despite the abundance of tissue remnants lying freely between abundantly proliferating connective tissue fibers.
