Abstract:
Histological diagnosis: Haemorrhagia cerebri.Autopsy examination of 63-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin and van Gieson method. The periphery of the focus contained quite numerous dilated vessels with thick, vitreous-fibrous walls. Large clusters of macrophages were visible adjacent to some of the vessels. A similar cluster, without apparent vessel association, was found lying within the basal ganglia; some of the macrophages contained small amounts of hemosiderin. The microscopic image was indicative of secondary hemorrhage into previously malacic changed tissue (perhaps of the status lacunaris type).
