Abstrakt:Histological Diagnosis: Syndroma Arnold- Ghiari cum hydrocephalus. Autopsy examination of 8-month-old baby was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with Hematoxylin-eosin, Cresyl violet as well as Holzer’s and Van Gieson's stain.Hemisphere with massive hydrocephalus. A section shows the ventricle lined with a layer of submental gliosis with only small inserts of normal lining. Significant fibrous gliosis around the ventricle. Cortex developed properly - pale nerve cells, but coexistence of some putrefactive changes made impossible to assess the degree of their sub-convulsive damage. White matter revealed features of fresh stasis and perivascular transudates. Activation of appendage elements, perivascular and longitudinal densities of oligodendrocytes indicate chronic changes. Normal development of cerebellar cortex was noticed. At the level of ventricle IV, fibrous gliosis appeared, increasing downwards, at first only in the ventricle, in the commissure of inferior colliculus and in the cervical cord affecting almost their whole cross-section. In the medulla, especially in the cervical cord, cellular atrophy was observed.
