Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Encephalomalacia in individuo sclerotico. Autopsy examination of 60-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with H-E and Van Gieson's, PAS, Nissl, Bielschowski’s and Perdrau's method.A temporal lobe specimen showed a focus of malacia with macrophage and gemistocytic reaction in the periphery. The focus in the cortex is retained on the marginal glial layer and in the parietal area on the submental glial layer. Gliosis and congestion present in the frontal lobe. silver impregnation revealed multiple senile patches in the , and single cells with neurofibrillary changes in the temporal lobe.
