Abstract:Histological diagnosis: Encephalomalacia partim haemorrhagica cerebelli Oedema. Autopsy examination of 64-year-old patient was performed. Neuropathological evaluation in light microscopy was based on brain paraffin sections stained with H-E, PAS and Van Gieson's method. In the cerebellar specimens viewed, an extensive area of necrosis was observed, locally hemorrhagic, locally diffuse with macrophage reaction, and elsewhere with features of spongiosis and other manifestations of hypoxia. Larger vessels showed atheromatous changes, smaller ones very significant vitreous changes. Prominent features of edema were seen.
