Description:

Głowocis japoński to krzew lub niewysokie drzewo. Naturalnie występuje w północnych Chinach, Korei i Japonii. Jego igły podobne są do igieł cisa pospolitego, jednak zazwyczaj są dłuższe, nawet do 6 cm, z szerokimi szarymi paskami od spodu. Głowocis jest rośliną dwupienną. Jego nasiona okryte są zieloną osnówką z fioletowym nalotem i przypominają małe śliwki - stąd tłumaczenie angielskiej nazwy 'śliwocis'.
