Date issued/created: Description:The photo depicts a thatched hut and around it in various places are women and children, e.g. on the ladder, on the roof, on the fence, next to the well sweep and the house. One of the women is holding a baby in her arms. In the background there is a yard, various objects and tools and some poultry. According to its owner, the photo depicts her mother’s family in front of her great-grandparents’ house which at the same time was her mother’s family home. The author of the photo is unknown. People in the photo are: great-grandmother Marianna (...) – the person standing closest to the house; the great-grandmother’s eldest daughter – Natalia (the sister of the father of the photo owner’s mother) holding in her arms the photo owner’s mother (Krystyna) who at that time was 3 months old; the mother’s brother Ryszard – 3 years old at that time (standing next to the great-grandmother); the great-grandmother’s second daughter– Apolonia – standing next to the well sweep; cousins (daughters of the photo owner’s mother’s paternal uncle) – Henryka (standing on the fence) and Aniela (sitting at the bottom of the ladder), the great-grandmother’s third daughter – Pelagia laying on the roof of the woodshed; a cousin (daughter of the photo owner’s mother’s paternal uncle) – Irmina in a white apron on the ladder; cousin (daughter of photo owner’s mother’s sister) – Helena sitting at the top of the ladder" ; June 1933, Modecin, district Węgrów, voiv. Siedleckie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village).
