Abstract:The article outlines the wartime fate of Jusuf-bek Umaszew. A contract officer in the Polish Army until 1939, during World War II he resided in Turkey, where he was recruited by Polish intelligence. The article’s second theme concerns the importance of the Caucasus for the Polish secret service. The article is based on archival materials kept within Polish archives in London.
