Description:

The photo depicts people standing next to a cart drawn by one horse. The wagon is loaded with furniture / boxes (?). There are six men and three children standing beside the wagon. It is wintertime. According to the photo’s owner, it depicts a removal – just after the war – from an old cottage (demolished by a bomb) to a new farm. The photo was taken by an amateur and depicts the family of the photo owner’s father ; 1945, Piaseczno, voiv. Gdańskie ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
