Abstract:

The paper deals with analysis of alternative monetary-fiscal policies for Poland. The analysis is made with the use of noncooperative game describing mutual interactions of policies carried on by the monetary authority and the fiscal authority. In the paper a respective monetary-fiscal game is formulated. A recursive dynamic econometric model for Poland is proposed. It is used to calculate payoffs of the monetary authority and the fiscal authority treated as players in the game. The model is constructed using ideas of the New Neoclassical Synthesis (NNS) modeling including extensions describing influences of the fiscal policy. The model has been estimated using time series 2000-2014 for Poland. The paper presents simulation experiments in which results of tha game are compared to the real historical policies and results of the policies in two time periods for Poland: 2004-2005 and 2008-2009.
