Muscle segment examination in light & electron microscopy

Abstract:

A 6-month-old patient was examined. A biopsy of diaphragm was performe. Muscule fibers of correct diameter, preserved myofbril architecture and normal structure of the sarcomers, mixed with fibers of small diameter and separated by abundant connective and lipid tissue were observed. In some fibers electronmicroscopy analysis revealed changes in the nuclei structure-they were abnormal and folded. Also numerous fat droplets in the cytoplasm were seen.
