[A shop – bakery] [An iconographic document]
Date issued/created: Description:The photo depicts an interior of a shop – bakery. On the photo there are two shop assistants wearing aprons, one of them has a white peaked cap on his head, and two customers – a woman and a man. The woman is wearing a dark blouse, a long, light-coloured skirt and a kerchief. There is a man dressed in dark clothes standing behind her. In the background there are shelves with just a few goods; the merchants and customers are separated by a glass counter with a glass-case displaying bread (of one type only). According to the photo’s owner, it depicts the first bakery that was opened after the war in the summer of 1945 in Pszów (Rybnik district, Katowice voivodeship), which belonged to Emil (…).It sells bread and rolls from seeds of the same year ; 1945, Pszów, district Rybnik ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
