[Sawmill workers] [An iconographic document]
Date issued/created: Description:The photo depicts a large group of men posing for the photo next to logs of wood and surrounded by machines. They are wearing occupational dresses. According to the photo’s owner this is a group – a team – of the local sawmill [owned by] Knapik in the commune of Pszów from 1936. The photo depicts a group of underage workers – under-18s. The person marked with a cross has been identified by a resident of Kokoszyce – it is a 17-year-old Paweł (…) from the village of Kokoszyce ; 1936, Kokoszyce, com. Pszów, district Rybnik ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
