Subject and Keywords:

biotechnology ; Improvements in the single photon counting method have made it possibleto measure total emission intensity, to monitor its kinetics and to make measurements (using cut-off filters) of the spectral distribution of electromagneticradiation emitted from spermatozoa of three farm animals species. The association between peroxidation processes in cell membranes and the accompanyingphoton emission and sperm viability, sperm motility and metabolic processeswas identified and further explored. The application part of the studies concerned the effect of stress factors on bull, ram and boar spermatozoa and thepossibility of using ultraweak luminescence as a new biophysical method forevaluation of semen biological value. The obtained results indicate that measurements of ultraweak luminescence can prove useful for solving problems related to the evaluation, conservation and use of farm animal semen.
