Abstract:

Organotins are ubiquitos in the environment. They are commonly used as acomponent of plant protective agents, antifouling paints, PVC stabilisers, catalyst and wood preservatives. Some organotins show deleterious effects on different organisms even at very low concentration. Of particular importance tothe environment is high toxicity of tributyltin (TBT). Biotransformation oforganotin compounds by dealkylation or methylation has been observed. Thispaper focused on the interactions of microorganisms with organotins includingbioaccumulation, detoxification and degradation.
