Description:

The photo depicts four men, two of them with bicycles. In the background there is a birch tree grove. According to the photo owner’s account, it depicts a drainage technician and his apprentices during drainage works in the village of Brzeziny and its vicinity. The man marked with a cross (second from the right) is the photo’s owner. At the back of the photo there is an inscription saying: “A memento from Będków dated 11/9.1929”. ; The photo sent to the contest named “Photography of the Polish village pre-1948” organized in 1983 by the quarterly “Fotografia” (Photography) and the weekly “Nowa Wieś” (New village). Copy of the photo kept at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (former Institute for the History of Material Culture)
