 abstract={The paper discussed how local communities in Poland took in Ukrainian war refugees in the period between March and May 2022. The arrival of large numbers of refugees within a short period caused a crisis situation requiring prompt intervention in those communities. The paper described this situation: the influx of refugees, the organisation of crisis teams, actions taken by local actors, and factors determining the effectiveness and efficiency of the aid provided. The analysis focused on institutional assistance and highlighted the role of local government and intangible community resources. The paper was based on a case study of an urban-rural municipality.},
