 abstract={The aim of the article was to recognise the importance of subsidies to operating activities in shaping the economic results of fruit farms in the Małopolska and Pogórze Region. The area of research covered Region 800 in Poland, identified under the FADN – Małopolska and Pogórze, which is characterised by high agrarian fragmentation and the development of orchard production. The research was conducted on the basis of a questionnaire in 45 orchard farms. The descriptive method, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, was used in the data analysis. The conducted research shows that fruit growers received financial resources in the form of EU subsidies and subsidies from various programmes. Most of them benefited from the funds available under the RDP 2007–2013 programmers. Direct payments were the more common form of EU aid. The obtained funds were allocated mainly to the modernisation of the machine park and current needs (purchase of production resources). The analyses show that the share of operating subsidies was high in the income structure of some farms. On the basis of Spearman’s rank correlation, however, no interdependence between subsidies and profitability of fruit farms was demonstrated.},
