 abstract={The article deals with the activities of the German special courts in Chełm and Zamość between 1940 and 1944. It discusses their system, organisation, and their staff. Based on archival material and the occupation press in the General Government, the article presents the court rulings, preserved in small numbers. Next, basic statistics are offered, and the number of persons sentenced to death is calculated. The final section describes the evacuation of the German judiciary from Chełm. The text is descriptive and based on sources that historians have not used so far.},
