 abstract={The article discusses the specificity of the environment of Polish journalists in emigration in the context of the whole emigration (with particular emphasis on the journalist environment in the United States, where in the years 1865–1918, the largest number of Polish émigré magazines had been issued). Under consideration are issues such as education, origin, views, and social status of the representatives of that group, as well as if and to what degree these people can be classified as intelligentsia. It also discusses the press discourse concerning the tasks and the most desired traits in journalists and reporters. The topic of the last part of the article is the more or less successful attempts to create common organizations, conventions, and unions by the employees of Polish newspapers in America.},
